Along this course I will share with you different examples of collaborations of architects with social movements. We will analyze together the nature of this relationship in practice. It will lead to debates about different forms of participation, on self-organization.
I will also challenge you to read architecture as part of a collective creative process and to identify and characterize the role of each actor within this process from bottom-up.
Social Cities is divided in different modules, covering specific social struggles, such as the right to the city, right to housing, co-operative economies and other current struggles. As a student you will be asked to choose a specific struggle as a case study and analyze it´s existing or potential relation with architectural practice.
